My Favorite Drink: Arnold Palmer

The most refreshing drink this time of year and through the hot Oklahoma summer months is the mix of sweet tea and lemonade.  This drink is named after famed golfer, Arnold Palmer and I am so glad he shared this mix with the world.  My Aunt Karon introduced me to this drink and it has remained at the very top of my list of non-carbonated drinks since.

Lemonade
1 3/4 cups white sugar
8 cups water
1 1/2 cups lemon juice
Directions
In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup water. Bring to boil and stir to dissolve sugar (this is called a simple syrup.) Allow to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until chilled.

Remove seeds from lemon juice, but leave pulp (this is where the flavor is at!).
In pitcher, stir together chilled syrup, lemon juice and remaining 7 cups water.

Sweet Tea
1 gallon of water
5 small tea bags
1 cup of white sugar
Bring half a gallon water to a boil. Remove from heat and steep tea bags in hot water for 15 minutes.
Pour hot tea with half a gallon of cold water.
Add sugar & Stir until dissolved.

In a glass, add 3/4 cups lemonade to 1/4 tea.  Serve over ice!  Awww!  Refreshing!!!
Note: If this is too sweet for you, do not add sugar to the tea.  Still a great drink!
